Research Interests

1. Light-Weight Magnesium Alloy

  • Alloy design for developing extraordinary high-strength Mg alloys

  • Development of new extrusion processes for improving mechanical properties

  • Analysis of effects of process parameters on microstructure and properties

  • Study on dynamic recrystallization behavior during hot deformation

2. Plastic Deformation & Twinning Behavior

  • Plastic deformation behavior at room and high temperatures of Mg alloys and steels

  • Twinning and detwinning behavior of HCP materials under complex deformation conditions

  • Study on Schmid factor behavior of activated twin variants and resultant texture evolution

  • Improving mechanical properties through microstructure and texture control using twinning

3. Fatigue Properties of Metal Materials

  • High and low cycle fatigue behavior of Mg alloys, steels, HEA, etc.

  • Study on relationship between microstructural characteristics and fatigue properties

  • Development of fatigue life prediction models using energy based damage parameter

  • Improving fatigue resistance by tailing microstructure, texture, surface quality, etc.
